FAQ

1. General questions

  • How do I bid?
You will first need to register an account with Official Memorabilia and become verified. To do so, follow the steps below: 1. If you haven't already, register an account with Official Memorabilia at https://www.officialmemorabilia.com.au/account-create 2. Head to our auctions page at auctions.officialmemorabilia.com.au. 3. On your Dashboard, click on Update Billing Info and enter valid card details for verification. 4. Once your payment method has been verified, you can now bid! If you have any issues, please contact us for assistance.
  • Why do I need to register?
By registering, you are letting other members know that you will participate in an honest and professional manner.
  • What payment options are available?
We accept VISA or Mastercard only. Payment for your successful auction will be debited from your verified payment method immediately once the auction has closed. We do not offer Afterpay, Paypal or Zip Pay for auctions.
  • Do I need to use a credit card to bid?
Yes – to ensure fair bidding, a valid credit card will be required to bid on an item. Your credit card information is required only for the first time you place a bid. By providing your valid credit card information, you authorise Official Memorabilia to make a temporary authorisation to your credit card account to verify the information you provide is valid. This credit verification will occur each time you provide a different credit card in the bidding process.
  • Can I retract a bid?
No, all bids are final. It is your obligation to take care whilst bidding as once a bid has been placed, it cannot be retracted. Only under extreme or special circumstances would a bid retraction be authorised.
  • What is a 'maximum bid' or ‘proxy bid’?
Your maximum bid amount is the highest price you are willing to pay for an item. The Official Memorabilia platform allows you to determine beforehand the most you are willing to pay for an item and then enter a single bid at that amount in the Bid field. This allows the user to win the item at the lowest amount possible, without having to return to the site and re-bid each time they are outbid.
  • What is Buyers Premium?
The Buyers Premium is a charge in addition to the winning bid price of an auction item, or lot. This percentage fee will be subsequently added on payment of the auction item.
  • What is a 'Bully Bid'?
Bully Bid is a new feature that allows you to assert your authority over other bidders by employing an aggressive bidding strategy. A Bully Bid is a one-time amount, that represents the price you are committing to bid, and lets others know you mean business. Your Bully Bid will become the new current bid amount of the item provided it is greater than any previous bidder’s maximum bid. For example, if the current leading bid is $200, and your Bully Bid is $500, the new leading bid will be $500.
  • Do auctions have reserves?
Auctions may be subject to a reserve (a minimum amount that the seller wants to be bid as a condition to being willing to sell the item). Official Memorabilia reserve the right to establish a reserve amount, where deemed appropriate.
  • How does the auction close time extension work?
An auction closes at its specified ending time, or a specified time (in minutes) after the last bid is placed, whichever is later. For example, if people are bidding within 3 minutes of each other, the auction will not end at the scheduled time but will go on until a pre-determined number of minutes have passed without placement of another bid).
  • What if two users bid the same amount?
If two bidders bid the same amount, then the earliest bid will take precedence. If a user has set a proxy bid, and that proxy bid is matched, the proxy bid will take precedence as it was the earlier bid set.
  • How do I pay for a winning auction?
Using the credit card entered during the bidding process, all winning bid payments will be captured and processed through our secure payment gateway immediately at the conclusion of the auction.
  • When will I be charged for my order?
When the auction closes, an order will be generated for the winning bidder. It is at this time that an authorisation for capture is taken on your registered credit card.
  • How long do I have to pay for the item I have won in an auction?
The winning bidder must have successfully paid for the item within 48 hours of the close of the auction. If the winning bidder does not complete payment within 48 hours of the close, Official Memorabilia reserves the right to offer the auction item either to the next highest bidder or to re-auction the item. Official Memorabilia reserves the right to terminate the account and prevent the account from participating in any future auctions or broader transactions with Official Memorabilia.
  • What happens if I win an auction, but fail to pay?
All bids are legally binding, and Official Memorabilia reserve the right to recuperate any losses that arise due to failure to pay. If you are the winning bidder and do not pay for the item, Official Memorabilia reserves the right to offer the auction to the runner-up bidder or place the item back into the auction. Should you fail to pay for a successful auction item, Official Memorabilia reserves the right to terminate the account and prevent the account from participating in any future auctions or broader transactions with Official Memorabilia.
  • Is shipping included in my bid amount?
No, shipping costs are not included in the winning bid price. Shipping costs will be added during the checkout phase. To enquire about a shipping cost for a particular auction item, please contact us.
  • What is Real Time Bid Refresh?
The Real Time Bid Refresh feature is in place to deliver the best possible online auction experience by presenting the most up-to-date auction information, including Auction Time Remaining, Bid Count, and Current Bid Amount. When a new bid is placed or an auction goes in to Bid Extend, the most recent auction information will automatically be presented on the screen without the need to manually refresh the current browser page. Please note Real Time Bid Refresh is set to automatically deactivate after 12 minutes of inactivity on a page that presents auction data.
  • What is Auto Bid Extend?
The Auto Bid Extend feature ensures that bidders will always have a chance to challenge bids placed in the final seconds of an auction. When indicated on a listing page, if a bid is placed during the last 3 minutes of an auction, the auction will automatically extend for an additional 3 minutes from the time of the latest bid. The auction will close once all bidding activity has stopped for a period of 3 minutes.
  • What currency are the auctions ran in?
Our default currency is AUD. In the event an auction is in a different currency, this will be noted on the auction listing, and/or via a site acknowledgement.
  • I no longer want my item, can I get a refund?
We are unable to accept cancellation or refund requests, and a change of mind cancellation or refund request will not be accepted. Official Memorabilia will not accept any returns for a change of mind.
  • How do I access a private offer I’ve been sent?
You will receive an email with details and a link to complete payment for the offer. You can also access the offer from your Dashboard. Firstly, log in via auctions.officialmemorabilia.com.au, then go to Dashboard > Order History > Checkout Pending.
  • How do I check the status of my bids?
Simply go to your Dashboard, and Bid Status. This will show you bids you are currently winning, and losing.
  • I won multiple auctions - can you combine delivery costs?
Unfortunately, we cannot combine delivery costs. As each item can be on separate despatch timelines and are despatched in individual packaging, we are unable to combine delivery costs / items.
